Collage Play Days

I started running Collage Play Days as a follow-up to my Bands of Color Workshop. I know that learning a new technique can be challenging. What seems fun and easy in class can feel a bit more challenging once you're alone in your studio. Sometimes just getting the supplies can be a barrier.

These "Collage Play Days" may be the answer to these questions. My initial thoughts were just that a Collage Play Day would be fun. Then I realized that there might be real learning value beyond the fun aspect. If you’re really new to this, it might just give you a bit more confidence in your ability and give you a better idea of whether this is really for you. It also means that you can postpone buying the special mediums for a bit.

I’ve tentatively scheduled three sessions for the end of March.

Here are the details -

3 hours in the classroom at the Lane House Arts Center, 380 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. (The dark yellow Victorian house)  We're on the ground level at the back of the building, right off the parking lot.

The March sessions will be

       Wednesday, March 23, 1 to 4pm OR

       Thursday, March 24, 9:30 to 12:30 OR

       Saturday, March 26, 9:30 to 12:30

$35 per session, payable by the day of the session*

up to 4 artists besides myself.

*I've made a few changes. At least for the immediate future, I'm going to limit it to 4 artists besides myself. That gives us more breathing-space and everyone gets their own table.

Also, I'm not asking that you prepay. Because any of us may need to cancel at the last minute, I think it might be easier to just pay when you come.

I’ll have glues, wax paper, paper cutter plus odds and ends of extra supplies.

I’ll answer questions and walk you through any processes that you don’t understand.

Goals
     Have fun and play

Get more comfortable with the process
     Learn something new

If you’re interested, you can sign up using this link - https://signup.com/go/JeSoFvj.   I've included 4 slots, plus 2 wait list slots if all the the regular slots are gone.

Payment - can be made the day of the class or done in advance. You can bring a check or mail it to Ethel Hills, 473 Winnacunnet Rd., Hampton, NH  03842-3808 or you can pay me using Venmo – @Ethel-Hills, 603 557-4089.

COMING THIS SUMMER -

Bands of Color in Watercolor and Collage

Barn Gallery, Ogunquit, ME
10am to 3pm
Thursday, August 25, 2022 OR
Tuesday, August 30, 2022

Enjoy an art play day and learn a new technique. We’ll be making small colorful abstract landscapes that celebrate your spirit.

One of the fun pieces of this experience is using bits and pieces of old paintings to help create new paintings. Although watercolor will be our primary painting medium, we’ll be using some less traditional papers as well as straight watercolor paper.
